Lesson 1: make sure you can afford your holiday before you go. E.g.: I got “booted out into the cold” because I didn’t have £10k for the ritz.
“But it’s company policy” over such ridiculously trivial issues usually implies either:
– Management are unbelievably overbearing and micromanage.
– Minimum wage staff who couldn’t care less
I dont know what happened, but it seems odd the hotel was unable to take cash from her, then put the “tourist tax” on someones card.
I wonder how much of this ladies problem could have been solved with a little politeness and decency. I usually find when staff stick rigidly to the rules it is because you have given them no reason to be flexible.
