I lived in Barcelona for most of my childhood due to my parents’ work. And while there is a problem with pickpockets, the amount of them is blown out of proportion. Out of my parents and me, in 10+ years, and never taking any precautions, only one of us was ever attempted to be pickpocketed, and that was not even in the hotspots in the centre, just some random metro station on the outskirts.
