Just thought a precise political border used for weather seemed odd. Normally they straddle the border, or lie just off it, not exactly following as weather doesn't care about human borders.

That’s how the weather warnings work. The met office has different regions, like “Lothian and borders” or whatever, and the weather warnings cover one or more of those regions.
We already know not to play with yellow snow & ice up here. They need the warning.
Yeah I believe we are due a good dump of snow in the Borders, but the fuckwits at the met office don’t seem to think we need to be warned.
England first and all that. Snow only matters in the home counties really.
