If you dont have any type of mental health issues when you first enter the system, you sure as shit will have when you leave…
Not surprising. No one cares about prisoners. Even the ones who are innocent awaiting trial or were framed. Even people _outside_ of prison don’t have access to good mental health care, what makes us think it’s any better in prison? It’s worse.
Prison is no place for allot of people let alone those with mental health issues…the law is an azz…in the grand scheme of things though the UKs legal system isn’t as bad as other places.
Cynical I know but I guess there just isn’t as much profit in mental health as there is in incarceration, which is why we as a nation end up supporting punitive measures rather than rehabilitation.
No mention at all of the offence she committed to end up in prison, and the affect it had on the mental health of the people the offence was commuted against.
Oh poor briony having to suffer for her own actions. Imagine doing bad things and having to live amongst other people who had done bad things.
Let’s feel sorry for her awwww.
Then don’t commit crime and you won’t end up in prison. Simples.
Our entire prison system is fucked. The prison is the punishment not the conditions. You shouldn’t be denied needed medical care and help whilst inside. What she did was terrible and the people who she hurt absolutely should also have gotten any and all support they needed but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t either.
