Hello!

I recently installed the Telekom 5G Hybrid at my residence, however, something is not right.

The first photo is my cellphone on the 5G network, the second photo is when I connect to the wifi. The results on the computer were the same, even when connected via Ethernet.

The drastic speed difference is confusing, especially considering the baseline is supposed to be around 16mb/s minimum via DSL, the 5G is supposed to augment that. At least, that’s how they explained it to me.

If anyone has any experience or advice I would love to hear. The antenna is attached to the exterior of my home and has all green lights.

Thank you!

  1. Have the same setup. Speedport is connected via DSL (16.000 Mbit/s) and the 5G module. when I start a speedtest or a download it takes around 2-5 seconds to enable the 5G Module bandwith (around 150.000 MBit/s). this response super annoying. next problem is that I have to restart the module and the speed port every 2 weeks, because the module stops working and I have only my DSL bandwith. It seams your 5G Module does at the moment nothing. Try to restart everything. If this is not working, try to find out where the cellular tower is and point the 5G Module in this direction. in my opinion this is only an emergency setup when nothing else is available. by the end of this year I switch to fiber im sick of this bullshit.

  2. There are a few things to consider:

    – Where is the 5G module installed? It must be installed outside and in the direction of the 5G tower, not inside the house/apartment.

    – Check for the latest firmware update in your Speedport device settings – There was a fix a few weeks before for slower dsl connections combined with 5G/hybrid.

    – Telekom prioritize mobile customers. This means that when the mobile network is at maximum capacity, for example in the evening, mobile customers will be the first to be served. Hybrid connections will only be able to access the internet in higher speeds if there is enough capacity left over after mobile customers have been served. that explain the gap.
