How surprising. You close down bars and restrict people meeting in private, and suddenly they drink less.
I bet gas consumption is taking the same route.
Good
Don’t worry guys I’mma make the graph go up again.
Not in this house it isn’t!!!!
I mean if you close bars and restaraunts….
Hard liquor consumption is going up.
The great thing is that this mainly affects the macro breweries, independent ones struggle far less.
Not a surprise. Germany is growing older and much more heavily Muslim. Neither of those trends bodes well for breweries.
Nicely chosen colour placement
I worked at a German brewery for a few years.
It’s been going down for years. This graph starts at 2012, but the trend predates this.
There are likely many reasons for this. Competition from wine, cocktails, etc., contributes to it. Beer is seen by many young people as “their father’s drink.”
Personally, I think the lack of diversity of product in the German beer market has a lot to do with it. Small, local breweries making essentially the same style of beer as Becks or Augustiner can’t compete with the price point of the big companies. Once the local is gone, people seek other options.
In other words, German beer is kind of of boring. It might be well made, but it doesn’t get the interest that wine tastings can provide.
Definitely not my fault! As a franconian it’s my life lasting duty to drink at least one beer from all of our 300 breweries and their maybe 1000 different products!
Average on what? Day? Week? Month? It can’t be a year, not for Germany.
How do I interpret the at home / outside part? To get per Capita consumption do I add both?
I feel for the German beer industry, so much so that I would like to extend an offer. Sponsor this American to become a citizen, and I will work and drink lots of beer in Germany until the day I die.
We are going Halal machallah 😄
Working on it…
Our generation is so broke. We can’t even afford a beer.
Hold my beer… errr wait …
So am i the only one thinking it’s a good thing? Alcoholism is devastating guys… it’s a good news😅
