Nothing stirs up royal news more than Kate Middleton stepping out for a brief appearance, but behind the chaos of her arrival at St Mary Magdalene Church on Christmas Day, I missed a major hair detail from one royal child in particular: Princess Charlotte.

On December 25, the members of the royal family stepped out for a day filled with Christmas festivities starting with the morning church service. Joined by King Charles and Queen Camilla, Princess Catherine, Prince William and their three children, Prince George (11), Princess Charlotte (9) and Prince Louis (6) all smiled and posed for photos as they kept royal traditions alive while donning similar festive outfits.

In these photos, I couldn’t help but notice that the young princess’s hair looked slightly different than usual. We’re so used to Charlotte having an uncanny resemblance to her mother with similar brown locks, but now the young royal’s hair is somewhat longer with her ends much lighter than before.

If you look closely, you’ll notice her hair has streaks of light blonde throughout giving the impression of natural highlights. It’s also not lost on me that the velvet green bow she’s sporting matches the dark emerald shades both her mother and Queen Camilla were wearing on the day. Talk about coordination.

I can’t wait to see what fun royal photo ops the new year brings.
