He was warned of a heavy troop buildup on the border. Russia claimed exercises, Ukraine urged the US to calm down everything is ok. Fool.
Biden screamed buildup but didn’t do enough to prevent it, it was a sign of weakness which started the Houthis, Israeli attack, etc when the world realized the US wasn’t standing up to bullies under Biden.
Domestic politics tend to heavily influence foreign politics. We should all remember that the Obama Administration was not actively campaigning to provide heavy weapons to Ukraine when Putin began to support the insurgency in Eastern Ukraine.
Trump, I may be wrong, also wasn’t fully on board with the Ukraine train.
It should come to no surprise that the Biden administration along with Europe were recovering from COVID lockdowns so there probably was little appetite to cause more pain via NatGas sanctions.

I fully support Ukraine but him talking as if the U.S. hasn’t done enough is silly and honestly disrespectful.
The only thing bad I could say is Biden kept him on a leash with not being able to strike back. It is sad and did nothing but help Russia. All in hopes of keeping power. When really anyone close to him had to of known he wasn’t even healthy enough to continue.

Russia supplied valabue gas, oil, and is the largest fertilizer exporter in the world. The US being their third largest customer and 20% of all US fertilizer imports last year.

Ukraine has gotten a lot of help for being a non-Nato country.
Ukraine would have been completely taken over without US intervention.
Canada has also given billions of dollars when we are having our own issues and within our borders. At some point, this is getting ridiculous saying that countries did not help them.
With international help, Ukraine has basically been upgraded to a country that could stand up to a huge powerhouse like Russia…not sure what else we can do. This is not our war to fight. The world has suffered enough from this war.
Wtf is always about the US not doing enough or something? I don’t believe in the bs “America first,” but I also don’t believe it’s always up to the US to do something. We will always do something because I would rather the US help countries whenever we can, but sometimes we have our own shit to short out before we can come to help. The fucking EU is right there, bit yet it’s America fault for not jumping in fast enough.

News media presented “experts” in finance who made bold claims that through sanctions Russia would not be able to manage longer than months let alone years…
I gather that blockchain technology is a controversial topic stemming from crypto exchange, but is it naive to think that if we did have a transparent ledger in place that the public would be able to track the flow of funds? If I understand the concept of a blockchain ledger correctly, which I am not confident.

Yes, the world didn’t react to occupation of Crimea at all, but this guy wanted to have peace/settle with putin before 2022 and did everything not to upset putin.
As i’ve said before. If an article makes US angry with EU or vice versa, it’s most likely meant to do so. Who would have motive to divide us? We’re not enemies, let’s not fight. We all know who the enemy is. We can do the WAY less important chatting about who did what, who owes who what, who should have done better and so on, AFTER our common enemy has been defeated.
Again, if it’s divisive between us, it’s most likely propaganda. Don’t let it work.

I watching the Lex Fridman podcast with Volodymyr Zelenskyy right now, it’s actually really interesting.
I mean the biggest issue with this is if the U.S. imposed sanctions beforehand then what’s the downside for Putin to invade? The entire calculus was if we threaten crippling sanctions it will dissuade Putin from invading, but if we placed those same sanctions on them for threatening to invade then they’ve already suffered the consequences they would get from invading.

(But don’t treat it as an excuse to forget the tens of thousands of abducted children, the attacks on power infrastructure during winter, the Russians’ use of chemical weapons among countless other war crimes, or the fact that the dictatorships of the world are watching this all the time and measuring the west’s resolve by it.)

I still remember watching on the news how Biden said back in Jan of 2022 that Russia will be held accountable if the forces they amassed on the Ukrainian border would be put to full use, but if it’s more of an incursion then we not gonna do anything.
