    Normal countries: See war crimes? Judge war crimes.

    “Rules-based order” countries: See war crimes? Pretend we judge war crimes.

    Israel & Russia: See war crimes? The problem is that you saw those war crimes.

    The fact that the West still tries to defend Israel is beyond me.

  2. A problem is that some folks in Israel, from right wing politicians on down to soldiers, have not taken international law seriously enough. However these soldiers are young inexperienced conscripts so the politicians are more to blame.

    Also Israel because of its size cannot live a normal life unless it deters attacks. And the best way to deter attacks is massive retaliation. This creates PR problems that Hamas exploits. Rinse and repeat.

  3. One more notable point in what will be ultimately be the global isolation of an entire generation of Israelis. The internationally ubiquitous early twenties Israeli post-IOF traveler will soon be a thing of the past.
