Hello everyone. I have moved to Finland 4 months ago. It is nice to be in this beautiful country. If I need to talk about myself, I am fond of electronics and building PC, kind of stuff.

I have ordered a graphics card from [ComputerSalg.fi](https://ComputerSalg.fi) and their website were looking legit. However, I have ordered a graphics card from them and got it. But I have experienced a few problems such as pixelation and texture in specific games example includes Battlefield, Far Cry, etc.

I have been reading the company policy for returns and I am in a little shock. I know that they want to prevent unnecessary returns. But their website says, “if you return the item to us and declare a fault, defect in the item and if we don’t find it, we will charge you 140€ per hour for inspection process.”

Besides shocking, I am a bit worried too, although I have done some troubleshooting steps and uploaded a video for distortions as proof and explained the problem really well, I am just thinking what if they can not find anything in the graphic card, do they have a right to charge me for this?

I am not familiar with Finnish or European Consumer Rights, so if you guys have any experience or any idea, I’d like to hear!

Kiitos!

  1. Danish company. Returns to Denmark. At your cost.

The ‘return filter’ cost seems high but possibly there in case of abuse. Whether they ‘abuse’ this provision I can’t say.

Not sure about its compliance with EU distance selling rules. I feel it isn’t but I reserve correction.

    Credit card purchase?

  2. If your item is defective, they have to repair or replace it (the former probably doesn’t really apply to GPUs), free of charge, until an unspecified time period (so called seller’s responsibility). This is regardless of the warranty that the seller might offer *in addition* to their legal responsibility.

However, conditions such as stated there are pretty basic, so if they deem that they cannot find the defect, they will hold your item hostage until you pay the ransom money. This possibility is actually sometimes misused, so even if the item is defective, they might try to screw you and get you to relinquish your claims, especially if you don’t know your rights as a consumer. Even big companies such as [verkkokauppa.com](https://verkkokauppa.com) can do this, my friend had a very long quarrel with them over a broken item which they claimed was his fault, and it had to be eventually settled by the consumer rights board (and he won).

So, if the defect is not blatantly obvious, brace for the possibility that you may need to exercise your rights, hit the table with your fists, and prepare to threaten them with [www.kuluttajariita.fi](https://www.kuluttajariita.fi). Beware though that if it comes to this, the settlement process might take a couple of years.

But let’s keep our fingers crossed that they try not to screw you.
