  4. She’s no Orban or Fico. Meloni is pro-NATO and pro-EU. Her having good relations with Trump will be a net positive for the EU.

  5. Even though I don’t share many ideas with Meloni, I think she is doing well as Prime Minister and she hasn’t gone off the rails like her friends Orban or Fico, but Italy is doing rather well and I congratulate her for that! I sympathize with her!

  7. If you call every right wing politician far-right or fascist you risk people not understanding what those words mean anymore and then before you know it they are supporting actual extremists.

    Meloni is just a regular conservative. Luckily she’s also supporting Ukraine and wants to have dialogue with the EU instead of advocating its destruction. She’s also not stupid and knows that having good relations with the next US president is a good move. You don’t have to like her, but you also don’t have to lie about her.

  23. To all the Non-Italians who are saying Meloni isn’t far-right while knowning nothing of italian politics allow me to give me some context:

    -Her party is the successor of the movement “Movimento Sociale Italiano”, a self-proclaimed neo-fascist movement.
    (Her party logo even has in it the Tricolore Flame, the old symbol of the Movimento Sociale Italiano)

    -Her second man, Ignazio La Russa, is famous for having his house filled of Mussolini’s statues and fascist symbols.
    There are also several videos showing several of her party’s member(Ignazio La Russa doing the fascist salute).
    Oh, yes, and La Russa’s full name is Ignazio “Benito” La Russa, he was named After Benito Mussolini.

    -When she was younger she belonged to far right/neo fascist environments and pubblicaly praised Mussolini as shown in videos like this one:

    -The younger section of her party recently has been the centre of a big scandal in which Undercover journalists secretly filmed private rallies in which the members openly showed neo fascist ideas.

  25. It’s possible to dislike both and still think this is a good thing. Better a far-right atlanticist than russophile wannabe autocrats, and for Trump those two are unfortunately the only realistic options
