Interesting point: Between the seperation of the Roman Empire and the Gesta Hungarorum, which is about a thousand year stretch, there is only one recorded event* of Romance being used in the balkans, which is known as the ‘Torna, Torna’ event of a shepard accidently commanding an Eastern Roman Army.

Once I found the only stream I could find for a tennis match I wanted to watch had Romanian commentary. I speak Italian and I could almost understand it—bits and pieces—but it was very difficult. My introduction to Romanian.
