  1. In fairness to Shackleton, he sailed into a sea ice storm recklessly endangering the mission. If it wasn’t for the Munster men of Crean and McCarthy to pull him out of the shit, nobody would ever have heard from him again.

  2. Amazing stuff, I wonder how excited you would be as a researcher on the team on the ship when you initially make out somethings in the water and then fully confirm its this legendary ship that has been lost all this time. Must have been some buzz.

  3. For anyone interested in this story, history hit on youtube have been doing a series about the search for the Endurance. Dan Snow, the host is onboard the ship that is doing the search.

  4. A few went for help in a small boat. With the freezing conditions, they had to light a fire, but that burned a hole in the bottom and it sank.

    Just goes to show – you can’t have your kayak and heat it.
