Lukashenko claimed that he had been “on good terms” with Zelensky and cynically expressed confusion over the Ukrainian president’s behavior.

The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of attempting to drag Minsk into the war.

The Belarusian dictator made this statement at the St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Church, according to Telegram channels and media from Belarus.

Lukashenko expressed outrage over Zelenskyy’s behavior without specifying exactly what he meant. The self-proclaimed leader of Belarus also directed accusations toward the Ukrainian president.

“This small island [Belarus] – it’s not as small as I think, but it is an island – is peaceful. And you know, it’s bothers them. It’s a problem for them there. Now they want to drag us into this little war. Why is Volodya Zelenskyy behaving this way? We were fine with him, on good terms. Why is he barking, what does he want? He’s given orders. He needs to do everything he can to drag the country into war,” Lukashenko said.

Moreover, he claimed that “a dictatorship like in Belarus would be better than a democracy like in Ukraine.”

Lukashenko also assured that if his country were indeed dragged into the war, it might not survive as a state. According to the dictator, that is why he approaches such matters with “patience and perseverance.”

“Time will give everyone a judgment. But we need to endure. Let them say we have a dictatorship here, or whatever else. We must endure this. Under no circumstances should we panic,” the politician added.
