  1. Germany declines because of American-Anglo insistence to stick it to Russia. Now the Americans has the keys to the EU and deindustrialized Germany making them dependent on the Anglos for safety, energy and food. Sounds like a movie but it’s reality.

  2. Great show Francois. Very informative on Fmr Chancellor Merkel Leadership and how vital issues overlooked leading Europe with Germany into Economic crisis. Keep up the good work at France 24.

  3. First Wilhelm II, then A.H., now Mutte Merkel. She did almost as much damage to Germany as #1 and #2. Destroying energy resources for pseudo-science, de-industrialization, no economic growth, overrun by unwelcome migrants., no future for the next generation- it is a complete mess. And that is very scary for the rest of us.

  4. Merkel’s 16 year shadow is what brought Germany to where it is today. Let’s not confuse the numbers of years serving in leadership with success. Far from it.

  5. Merkel literally purged some 16 CDU party members ( including Friedrich Merz) who could endanger her position during her 16 yrs of reign. She never understood the dynamic that rise of China had created and continued the old politics which caused the downfall of Germany.

  6. In the last minutes the panel concluded that Europe faces challenges, both economic and geopolitical, lacks leadership, both in Paris and Berlin, and carries debt that’s necessarily growing. What’s left is only hope. Great debate 😅

  7. Merkel is the main root cause of Germany's decline today. She seemed to have led Germany to such prosperity at the expense of hollowing out German industry.
German industry no longer innovates and only invests heavily in China for the purpose of cheap labor and market. She never thought that the Chinese are so diligent and more importantly, so smart that they can beat Germany with new technology in decades. As long as the German automobile industry declines. His steel industry, auto parts industry, plastics industry, etc. will all be affected. The unemployment rate will increase. Finally, people will lose their hearts and the right wing will rise.

  8. What is left is her extremely large federal pension and all the expenses like security and secretaries and stuff that keeps her from peoples love. By their fruits shall you know them. Look at Germania today and despair.

  9. Germany do,t want NPD because nearly twentiyears time past borth partey was turen right side extreemrightside therefor NPD is Alibi for CDU and Nearly 39% People rufust vote and 57%world population Refused Alternative BRICKS

  10. Instead of making a show on how to possibly ideate great ideas and adopting the concept of “development of government efficiency”, Mass media chose to waste time talking about the past and leading the population towards inaction. Mass media has been the number responsible influencer towards all this in the past decades before Tiktok since German don't use X so much.

  11. Merkel is highly.over rated ,under her germany collapsed economically, her stupid policies lead to the rise of far right in germany and across europe, further her idiotic policies lead to the total dependance of germany to russian energy industry,i dont know why she is so celebrated

  12. Merkel rode on Gerhard Schroeder's reform, she failed during her tenure to continue reform, and reinvest Germany's massive tax largesse into new and promising technologies, and industries.

  13. To those saying its easy to criticise the past knowing how it unfolded later on: NS2 contract in 2015, one year after Russian attack on Ukraine!!
Just obce year later!! How does that look in the hindsight??

  14. She wasn’t “unemployed” when the wall came down. She took a leave to enter politics. She also was at the Berlin Wall the night it came down. The panelist may not like Merkel which is fine but she should get her facts straight…..

  15. What Mr.Willsch is carefully omitting from the debate is just the fact that the conservatives and business friendly liberals have been working for years to introduce exception and exemption from duties to pay taxes for the richest and most priviledged parts of society into our tax laws and fiscal policies.
Similarly they refuse to reduce buraucracy eg. in our federal system in Germany – to the contrary, they've been bloating it nearly beyond sustainability.
And to make matters seriously worse I cannot detect a glimpse of critical reflection on their own policies. Yet with that attitude Friedrich Merz is about to become our next chancellor probably.

  16. What is clear from history is, it is never a good energy strategy to tie yourself to a single option or supplier. China is pursuing an "all of the above" strategy: hydro, coal, hydrocarbons, wind, solar, nuclear, biofuels/energy from waste where it makes economic sense, and eventually perhaps, fusion. India will do the same. The USA finally has a government and an electorate that will do the same. Let the market sort out what makes most sense, not Brussels bureaucrats.
