Israeli committee has indicated that President Tayyip Erdogan is working on its plan to bring back its influence during the Ottoman Empire and this could ultimately lead to its direct conflict with Israel.
Iran-Turkey conflict
Iran-Turkey conflict: In the last five years, the world has witnessed many conflicts and wars across the globe. From the Ukraine-Russia war to the Iran-Israel conflict, the human race has lost thousands of lives but wait, the age of wars is not over as a committee appointed by the Israeli government has indicated that Turkey, under the leadership of President Tayyip Erdogan is working on its plan to bring back its influence during the Ottoman Empire and this could ultimately lead to its direct conflict with Israel.
Moreover, the Nagel Committee has claimed that Israel should prepare for a direct confrontation with Turkey.
Recommendations of Nagel Committee
According to The Jerusalem Post, the Nagel Committee claims that Turkey, under the leadership of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is trying to revive the power once held by the Ottoman Empire. This move is seen as conflicting with Israel’s interests and has the potential to heighten tensions between the two countries.
The report highlights a new security risk for Israel due to the alliance between Syrian factions and Turkey, suggesting that the threat from Syria might even outweigh the one from Iran. Furthermore, it cautions that forces backed by Turkey could destabilize the region.
Reaction from Israeli PM Netanyahu
“We are seeing fundamental changes in the Middle East. Iran has long been our biggest threat, but now new forces are entering the field. In view of this, we have to be prepared for any threat. This report gives us a roadmap to secure Israel’s future. We have to move forward on this”, Israeli PM Netanyahu reacted on the report and said.
Erdogan says Turkey and Lebanon agreed to act together for stability in Syria
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan had said last month that Turkey and Lebanon agreed to act together to ensure stability in Syria, as the country’s two significant neighbours. Speaking at a press conference with Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Erdogan also said Lebanon’s security as well as a lasting peace in Gaza are key to stability in the region.
Mikati said Lebanon was suffering greatly due to Israel’s continuing attacks. “It is continuing unfortunately directly militarily through the daily violations carried out by the Israeli enemy, and this is in violation of the commitment paper for the ceasefire,” he added. He also said Israel needs to ends its presence on Syrian territories.
“Furthermore, this is not the first attack by Israel on Lebanon. In the past, Lebanon has been subject to such harassment. At the point we have come to, everyone should see this: Lebanons’ security cannot be evaluated separately from the region’s stability. Without ensuring a ceasefire and a lasting peace in Gaza, our region cannot know calm”, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said about the Israeli attack.
