China Is Ready to Take Advantage of Trump Trashing Clean Energy. “China is positioned to take over as the global leader in climate politics.” Trump is effectively abdicating America’s role as a leader in the global fight against the climate crisis.

1. He might very well be pushing Europe closer to China as well. Imagine that US and Russia on one side of new global conflict, and Europe and China on the other…

2. What? All that already happened 8 years ago. But in the meantime renewable energy has become unstoppable.

5. The US upper class sold out to China long ago. There’s no correcting that course. Even if China’s economy crashes tomorrow, it’ll be the US taking the hit to prop them up because we need them for all essential facets of our economy.

   Clean energy is a drop in the bucket compared to the backlog of things we’ve sent overseas.

   It still sucks though.

6. That article had no facts, just statements. The Biden administration didn’t do anything for clean energy in USA, since they didn’t touch the regulatory regime that makes building it at scale impossible. If Trump cuts regulations such as permitting and environmental, then if economic, renewables will be built. Him also promoting lng is great for climate on two fronts – will reduce worldwide coal use and increases usa price of natural gas making renewables more competitive. 

7. Tbf, being a global leader in “climate politics” doesn’t really mean that much… It’s about systems, engineering and the economy. After 30 years of climate politics… We don’t much to show for it. 

8. Chinese citizens cannot afford green energy, but China makes it and dumps it on the western world. This is not new. Give me fossil fuels any day. It is so affordable, even the very poor can afford it. So I don’t care 🤷 if China leads the world manufacturing its green energy products with slave labor, let them have it. We have enough oil reserves to take us another 227 years approximately and oil shale another 114 years approximately. Man is innovative and the research is on to find a cost efficient replacement when we run out, as solar panels and wind turbines will not do it. The green energy movement is gonna end up bankrupting this country if they have their way. As long as there is a Democrat in the White House to throw tax dollars at extremely expensive green energy products,
   that cannot compete with the cost efficiency of fossil fuels, we will go bankrupt. And the green energy market movement will have won.

9. can someone explain to a non American, what’s wrong with Trump and his anti-renewable stance?

   I get the oil lobby and everything, but why pigeonhole yourself to use only one type of energy… it’s not like we can make everything else that oil is used for, like food additives, drugs, plastic etc. from renewables?
   It’s like he is letting China take the global lead on this, or is he just a senile
   nepo baby totally disconnected from reality.
