    >Turkish Cypriot climber Birkan Uzun was found dead and placed the pseudo-state flag on Mount Vinson, the highest point in Antarctica, which reaches 4,892 meters. According to T / C media, the 28-year-old was killed after being swept away by an avalanche. Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar expressed his condolences in a post on social media, saying: “Our Birkan, who devoted himself to his country and nation with love, will always live in a special part of our hearts.”

    >Bircan Ouzun, 28, who was born in occupied Morphou and worked as a business consultant for a company in Seattle, told the “news agency” that his goal is to climb the highest points on all seven continents.

    >”It’s a very proud feeling to be able to fly the TRNC flag at the highest peak, I wanted to thank the country where I grew up,” Uzun said, referring to the pseudo-state. Climbing Mount Vinson to Antarctica is the fifth part of the plan, which he called “Seven Peaks,” he added.

    >He climbed the mountain with a five-member team, saying that when he talks about the pseudo-state he wants to send the message that they have lived under an embargo for years, but they can do anything when they set goals.

    >”These embargoes can not stop. Everywhere you look in the world you can see successful Turkish Cypriots. People may not know this, but they will. “We continue to promote our country little by little with our successes and I am happy and proud that I also contribute to this,” he said.

  2. Oh boy, a guy did something very impressive but capped it off with a contriversial, but honestly insignificant statement and died. Sure hope no one celebrates his death.

  3. So, I’ve been reading the comments of this post and I must say the ignorance of my fellow GCs and what they consider equivalent of their values and history, makes me sick.

    > “These embargoes can not stop. Everywhere you look in the world you can see successful Turkish Cypriots. People may not know this, but they will. “We continue to promote our country little by little with our successes and I am happy and proud that I also contribute to this,”

Is it Karma or is The Pontic Greek/ Armenian Genocides is equal with one life of a Turkish Cypriots who only wanted for his people to be known?

Yes it’s by the recognition of the TRNC he wanted to achieve it, we are all against that and condemned it and what even r comes with it. You say this is karma for him to raise the flag of the TRNC to the top of all the mountains, I say he is the embodiment of our and the governments of the RoC’s failure for not proving him the flag of the Republic of Cyprus flag could do the same as he dreamed, along with any othe TC who believes the same with him.

You know what is better than saying “this is karma” or “ his death is equal with the genocide of millions” ? Proving and providing chances for the TCs to shine and are represented ONLY by the RoC and not letting the TRNC or Turkeys propagandas hands and you can start to have a little more understanding and empathy towards the individual and not let the hate and anger we have towards the occupiers consume your thoughts.

  4. My eyes lit up with joy once I saw this article. True happiness, deep in my soul, not just a small dopamine kick, this was much more.

  5. >”We continue to promote our country little by little with our successes and I am happy and proud that I also contribute to this,”

Excuse me, what country exactly? Why is everyone sympathizing with all this nonsense?

  6. Damn, so many possibilities, such a young career cut short. Condolences to his family. And shame on you who celebrate his death, you should know better.

  7. hope we had same passion for reuniting our Country. Unfortunatly Cypriots in occupied part have the power to request this or revolute for unification.

  8. It is disgusting to see comments celebrating death of Birkan. These people need serious mental treatment.

Turkish Cypriot community is very small and everyone is related to each other somehow. When you celebrate a death, it is celebrating someones brother, someones friend, someones relative. Birkan is the son of a refugee family like many of us. He managed to get out of Morphou which is one of the worst places for young people in northern cyprus and went to USA, worked at one of the largest companies in the world, Amazon. Not as a delivery guy. And he had an ambition. He wanted to climb highest mountains of the world and he did 5/7 of it. He opened the flag of TRNC to raise the voice of Turkish Cypriots to inspire many young people living here. That we can achieve things no matter we are living under embargoes. I am 100% sure, Birkan is not a faschist. Nor a separatist.

Sorry guys but for so many Turkish Cypriot, Republic of Cyprus does not mean anything other than the difficulties created by it, or discrimination implied by it.

  9. As a Greek Cypriot i feel disgusted by these comments of my fellow Cypriots. And this convinces me even more that our side is shitty. And ive got a points to prove my statement.

1:. We are extremely racists almost every other nationality is inferior to us and large part of our population acts as we are some kind of a master race.

2: A large part of our population treat animals bad and kill them for no reason.

    3: So much corruption.

    4: Shitty infrastructure.

    5: Expensive as fuck.

6: There is trash literally everything.

    And surely alot more.
