Hey all, I’m from [Levels.fyi](http://Levels.fyi) and we recently released our End of Year Salary report for 2024. It covers salary data for Software Engineers, Product Managers, Eng Managers, and more. Aggregating data from across our >200,000 submissions worldwide, we’ve compiled insights and uncovered trends regarding salary changes in 2024.
The chart attached is an overview of the top paying companies for SWEs of varying levels. Note: the levels used here are the [Levels.fyi](http://Levels.fyi) standard levels, which attempts to consolidate the varied level titles across different companies such as Meta, Amazon, Google, and so on. The well-known Meta leveling system has entry level engineers as L3 and incrementing from there, while this standard system starts them at L1.
Quick highlights from the chart:
* Jane Street, Databricks, OpenAI, and Meta all maintained their status as the top paying companies for each engineering level from last year’s report
* Databricks and other top paying companies that are still private provide a large chunk of their Total Compensation packages in equity, meaning that although their TC numbers are accurate, some equity might be more difficult to liquidate than public companies and their RSUs.
* The highest level of engineer, Principal Engineers, often see incredible equity grants due to their authority in directing where a company goes tech-wise. For these Oracle and Meta Principal Engineer offers, these equity grants can easily reach >$1M per year.
Let me know if you have any additional questions about our data and I’ll be happy to answer!
