  1. I’m about 90% sure the first clip is from the 12th SS during the Battle of Narva

  2. if you had to make a list of places you wouldn’t want to be in all of history, you’d struggle to find places worse than Stalingrad during this battle, what a fucking nightmare

  3. Death would have been a relief there than marching frozen to Russia to die.

  4. Might be a dumb question, but how did this footage come about ? Was the journalist able to be free when the Germans fell ?

  5. Can someone link more footage like this? Not necessarily German footage but just combat videos from world war 2

  6. Poor guy running across the street, seeing the camera and knows he on the spot before tripping over.

  7. Is the German archives releasing more footage as of lately ? I’ve seen some very well documented footage , very striking

  8. The battle for Stalingrad was insane. One famous battle for a grain elevator saw maybe a little over 50 Russian soldiers fend off 10 German assaults’ with only a couple of old Maxim machine guns and a pair of anti-tank rifles. The battle lasting from September 14th to Sept 22nd.

Being such a famous battle it’s easy to find additional information about it if you want to know more.

Also the documentary series “[The World at War](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071075/)” should be required viewing worldwide.. Don’t let the fact it’s from the 70’s deter you, it’s by far the most intimate and detailed account of events leading up to, during, and after the war, with interviews directly from those who were there first hand with both the allies and axis…

This world has clearly forgot the lessons from the not so distant past. And how I desperately wish we could remind them just how close we’re inching day by day, hour by hour, down that same dark, destructive path.
