On the front lines, the most intense fighting took place in the Pokrovske area of southern Donbas and on Russian territory in the Kursk Oblast. The overall intensity of Russian army attacks along the entire front has not increased and remains lower than the average of the two months prior to Christmas.
– In the Kursk Oblast, Ukrainian forces likely struck the command post of the Russian army’s 810th Naval Infantry Brigade with another HIMARS rocket attack. According to a Ukrainian forces representative, the Russian army has significantly intensified the shelling of the town of Sudzha and its surrounding areas with artillery. The Russian army has attempted to rapidly attack Ukrainian positions in the Kursk region, but has not succeeded. Ukrainian forces have managed to hold and fortify the positions captured the day before yesterday, and in some areas have slightly improved their positions. The Russian command is spreading disinformation about its forces’ supposed success.
– In the Kharkiv region, Russian attempts to attack have been somewhat more active than in previous weeks, but these are isolated local efforts that do not bring success.
– In the Kupiansk direction, Russian army activity has not returned to the levels of December and November, and the situation remains unchanged. I often think of that video of the orcs about to be sent to the front being told by the commander that they would certainly die but there would be monuments built for them.
I wonder if anyone going into this grinder realizes that they will simply become a number on a daily tally sheet hidden amongst 1-2K other numbers rounded to the nearest tens and nothing more.
It boggles the mind how so many people can be lured to certain death so readily for no articulable reason.
As a race, humans can do better than to allow large-scale barbarism, but I suppose Darwin would be impressed.
