That area is always boiling hot. And it’s right by the border with Balochistan? They sure about this?
Well, that will make it much easier for someone to conquer their capital someday, having it right there by an accessible waterway instead of having to either get to the locked-off Caspian or make it through Iran’s mountainous interior.
Amaraka (thinks Trump)
Moving already established capital to another city is not easy, time consuming and bloody expensive even in the best of time.
Had Iran not wasted money in supporting multiple terrorist proxies and Syria, it would have had enough money to cushion most of financial expense.
And with infrastructures that require massive maintenance funding, I really wonder how they’re going to squeeze the money from already battered economy.
Doing the old switcheroo
Maybe anticipating Israeli/US strikes on Tehran once Trump comes into office?
Might be to move their center of government away from juicy targets
To the Iranians (if any in the comment section lol), why is this happening, can someone explain? Isn’t Makran some kind of semi desert strip, with no major cities? What does this change mean? Sounds like a baffling new arrangement.
This seems like a move you make when you’re concerned about popular revolution.
Your largest and most metropolitan city will be where the protests take hold – by moving the capital to some smaller out-of-the-way city, you ensure such popular revolutions have a harder time seizing the state institutions.
A proven way to prevent a revolution is to move your capital offices and buildings away from the populus. That way any uprising cannot be as effective at shutting down infrastructure. This is what is literally happening in Egypt right now and the reason for the new capital city project.
Clickbait. They said they are studying a move.
Click bait; discussions that will almost certainly lead to nothing. The only thing the mullahs are good at is genocide and resource depletion.
I can’t find a single reputable source to back this up. Seemed like a wild move, and nothing I’ve seen confirms it.
What are they hoping to submarine as a major news story by making this one get air time?
Why not herat or ishafan
How much bet the rich and politicians already bought some choice land in the new capital?
Haha
“It smells shitty here, I’m moving”
This is not how you gain access to French nuclear technology!

Oh man, we have to move the Embassy?
Iran seems like where the US is going. So it’s actually a prosperous country with a lot of power but you got a large population of uneducated religious nutters who run around hitting people with sticks to make islam great again. Now we got trump back and he’s going to spew his nonsense and we’ll have the idiots defending it like gospel looking to smack anybody that calls him on it. And our capital is also moving to Florida. Depressing times.
This has been brought up time and time again for more than a decade. There doesn’t seem to be anything special this time around.
