I think at this point it’s ok to just cite a broad gesture towards musk/twitter to distance yourself from that trainwreck. We’ll understand.
There is def misinformation on there. I got Ratio’d and I think it was bots.
They’re leaving for the same reason the police force left the other day – community notes means they can no longer get away with spreading their own misinformation and turning off replies to make sure nobody ever corrects it. They’re constantly being embarrassed, and it’s glorious.
Elon made Twitter so good.
Everything you read on social media isn’t true? Surely University students can do proper research before believing something? Surely.
Seems disingenuous given that social media has been a cesspit of disinformation for decadea

checked it out for 5 mins yesterday…. top thing on my feed with tens of thousands of likes and engagements was a post saying that the democrats have started the wildfires in California as a conspiracy in order to impose climate change policies. something about conspiracies, paranoia and the end of empires comes to mind.
The thing about what’s happening with X is that as all the intelligence leaves the platform because they don’t want to be associated with it, it’ll just be left with Musk and his cronies with no one to challenge the insane opinions they spout.
they’d be better off using bluesky – can control their own user accounts and posting rules etc
Ah social media, the classically reliable source of all information. Single handedly ruined by one man.
This is like when Covid hit. The government didn’t have a clue what to do as it tried to please all the dickheads without worrying about the bigger picture and institutions took upon themselves to implement sensible procedures rather than wait for a panicked clueless government to do it’s job properly eg. the Football Association implemented their covid precautions independently while the government dithered around letting it spread.
This is the same but with the spread of misinformation and outright lies from powerful figures and the government has had years to come up with a plan of what to do in these circumstances, they knew about the Trump problem and rise of the right etc. And, yes, Labour should already have had a plan, parties should be coming up with plans BEFORE they enter government. It looks like the government will, again, eventually be forced to act but only because so many other places/people acted first.
I can’t fucking wait for the EU banhammer to crush X out of existence.
I deleted the app off my phone and browser shortcuts. The only reason I haven’t deleted it entirely is if something is shared with a twitter account, you need one to see it there easily.
I did check it the other day and it’s now all a feed full of people I don’t follow. Why would I want that?
It’s no longer what it once was or used for – now it’s more a Musk propaganda machine to spread misinformation and hate.
Yes, well done 👏 this is exactly what needs to happen.
I’d argue it was worse before then now misinformation and CP was absolutely rampant but because it’s no longer a cesspit for depraved and cultish opinions of the left but now the right it’s now a problem.
If they think X has misinformation on it, wait until they see what lies Public Health England push out online.
You would hope University level would have critical thinking skills to spot things and just ignore like a level headed sensible adult. This speaks more about the level of intelligence in Universitys.
X has community notes, which was funny when X first introduced it and they started fact checking what The Whitehouse was tweeting and they had to delete when their lies were called out.
Look at all these people mad at someone calling out mass rape being covered up hahahahahaha
He’s literally killed X. I’m not sure how he’s going to make money out of it dying but it seems to have been his plan all along. So many companies and leaders are leaving but perhaps it’s existence is dangerous in tent wit how much of an echo chamber and misinformation the remaining audience will get.
Meta/Facebook had such an easy win with threads when the first mass of leavers happened and they really screwed it up. Threads is awful if not as bad- it’s full of AI accounts, duplicates and onlyfans models that are recommend to you or appear in your feed regardless of your activity it’s strange. It’s insane how much they balls’d that up.
Blue Sky seems to be the better platform people are heading towards.
Let’s be real the echo chamber has just shifted away from typical university student views. Most of the shit on the platform was misinformation prior to musk taking over.
