I’m headed to Norway in September. This is the route I’m planning to drive heading from Oslo to Flåm for a few days, then from Flåm to Bergen to Stavanger to Kristiansand and then back to Oslo.

I’m planning on doing some kayaking in the fjords and bike riding, as well some hiking. But curious along this path if anyone here has some recommendations that most people miss when visiting.

Thanks!

  1. Looks fairly basic, wondering why anyone would spend “few days” in Flåm though.

Can recommend making a stop in Undredal just outside of Flåm and take a coffee there. It’s a cozy little spot on the fjord and underrated.

  2. From Bergen yo Oslo you have selected the boring roads. These are the “transport” roads. There are far more scenic roads, but rhey are a longer drive.

  3. You’re not going to see much of the nice spots. E134 (Haukelifjell) is a more scenic route than R7 (Hardangervidda).

  4. Pick Fv44 from Stavanger to Flekkefjord. Takes a bit longer, but better views and a couple of places you might want to see.
