Why is Elsa on the cover? Why are they for rent?
Why are they using this woman as the example of how bad it is when she is a single woman with no kids living in a 3 bedroom house complaining that Universal Credit doesn’t cover all her rent. It shouldn’t, cause she’s single with no kids.
No surprise really is there….
Money doesn’t stretch as far as it used to, wages are stalemate and the cost of things on the rise over the past 4 to 5 years no wonder people are living wage to wage….
Yet no one does anything about it….. Government ain’t gunna change their attitude, working class are always treated poorly, there’s no initiative to stay in a job if you’re just marginally getting by…..
I’ve gone from working in a full time job of 17 years to ill health retirement from it and unemployed with LCW in the space of 2 years, the change financially is drastic.
I only get UC with no other add-ons , my wife works full time on nights, trying to bring up 2 kids in this climate as well as being long term sick and trying to get help with my ailments so I can look at a chance to try and get a job is a slow road.
These days it’s more about existing to be able to pay the necessary bills and food shopping that’s the worth, nothing else, no holidays or fun days out with the kids….
Employers attitudes have changed too, especially since COVID, they want the same crazy pace as you did during that time for either less time/money and less caring about employee wellbeing and health
Forever stuck in a rut….
Not surprising in the least tbh. We have stagnant wages unless you’re a C-suite exec or above and a parasitic portfolio landlord class thanks to irresponsible tv shows of the 00’s like homes under the hammer and a place in the sun encouraging house flipping.
Housing should be a right, not a commodity to be banked and traded for exorbitant prices.
Had a landlord tell my sister recently that they’ve “No choice due to cost of living” but to raise her rent 24% in April because 3 of their other properties are currently empty. Out of a privately owned total of 9 properties not including their own house and a summer home in Dorset (occupied 2 weeks a year, like many others killing the local community and economy there).
Cost of living? MATE, you’re a land banking twat, you ARE the reason for the spike in cost of living. Those porperties are empty because they’re price gouging and locals can’t afford to rent them.
I’ve no issue with Private Landlords who own their own home, maybe their kids home and rent one out as a retirement income.
It’s the “Private Portfolio” Parasites who need bringing to heel.
Yep that’s me.
If I was him I would downsize to a 1 bed and get a job.
Scroungers like this are why the country is in the state it’s in. Let them be fucking homeless if they don’t want to work.
That’s how the owner class keeps working class in line. But you should fear immigrants instead, lol.
Downvote for American spelling of cheque. Is that you Leon?
