Link isn’t working for me. Summarize?
Greenland is currently in a strong position and has gained significant bargaining power due to Trump’s recent comments. It now has the option to sell access to the highest bidder. The worst-case scenario would be if Greenland prematurely declared independence without the US securing a stable security agreement. In that case, the US would lose much of its influence over the island, which it currently has through Denmark’s control.
It’s unlikely that Greenlanders would agree to a sale, even if offered a million dollars each and billions in investments. Such spending would also be a tough sell to the American public. Additionally, from a geopolitical perspective, it would not be easy for Europe to accept, and China would almost certainly object.
The real danger is idiots in the press keep talking about it.
