  1. Celebrity PR working overtime to make everybody look good.

  2. “Doing everything” would include buying new homes for poorer people who lost their homes to the fire.

  3. “hosting friends” ie other disgustingly wealthy people

  4. I’m sure she has the room. Give her a Nobel peace prize

  5. We can laugh at celebrities for headlines like this but keep in mind, unless Angelina called People Magazine and posed as the “source,” she didn’t open her home up to friends hoping for publicity. People Magazine likely called around, found a loose acquaintance of Angelina, who was willing to give this non-story for 50 bucks. I think the source and the silly magazine should be roasted over this rather than Angelina.

  6. These comments are so cynical and cruel. What LA is going through right now is tragic, regardless of whether the homeowners and business owners losing their property right now are wealthy or not. We’re all human — we all make memories in our homes and have irreplaceable sentimental items that would be devastating to lose in a fire. Have some compassion. It’s nice for those who are safe to open up their homes to loved ones, and I’m sure tons of celebrities are contributing monetarily to those in need, too.

  7. Clearly, the fire-fighters are not the only heroes in this

  8. You guys, I’m saying this as an Angeleno: can you give the cynicism a fucking break for a second? I personally know at least 6 families who’ve taken people in right now, and have offered it myself to four families. These people have lost everything and no one has any idea how to proceed. Like, they immediately have a place to sleep but literally no idea after that. And many of these people are families with children who need to be in school, but half of the neighborhood is gone, or their actual school is gone. Not to mention how thinly spread the housing/rental market already is here.

Everyone here is sad, and shocked, and stressed, and hearing that *anyone* is taking people in is really nice. Please show a little fucking humanity.

  9. I mean pretty much everybody in LA who has friends in danger and a safe place has offered their place to friends.

I’m evacuated and I’ve had a dozen friends offer their homes to me and my family. That’s kind of what friends do.

  10. Anyone bitching and moaning about celebrities being too rich and privileged to be upset about losing their home probably shouldn’t, you know, consume entertainment?

  11. Stalker burned my house down. I’ll never forget how it felt when friends and colleagues assisted me during that time.

  12. The amount of cynical comments is insane. How could folks be so cruel

  13. Oh thank god!!! I was waiting for days to see if she would. Whew! Glad she finally did. Do we know any of the displaced lucky enough to grace her home??? Hope to find out soon! Waiting…waiting…omg, waiting…

  14. Ugh that headline. Not usually defending celebrities but this headline is so purposefully manipulative to piss the internet off.

Yes Angelina is helping her friends and family, but thats NOT how shes “doing everything she can to help”. Shes donating like alot of celebrities, thats what the “doing everything she can” is in reference to.

  15. ANgelina Jolie is well known for her generosity but I can’t help but be cynical about this kind of report after the travesty with Baldoni and Lively.

  16. Source = publicist. Try doing something nice without alerting the media.

  17. I getting so tired of these comments. Just give it a break for one f’ing day.

  18. These fires will forever change Los Angeles and the people living there. So many everyday people will probably be living out of campers for years after this. Everything they had, just reduced to rubble.

I really can’t fathom the reality thousands of people are facing now.

I give credit to any and all people are taking in friends, family and loved ones during this time. Also, to those who are giving it everything they have right now to save others (firefighters, volunteers, medical professionals, veterinarians, cops, people donating their time and money to help in any way they can).

I know there is a serious wealth disparity giving us anger right now. I don’t think we should be mad at other Americans who who have more than us. We should be mad at the 1% and all of the companies that cooked people into the ground well before this fire cooked this city.
