Like the Kaiser and the Fuhrer and countless others, Putin and Xi seem happy to take on many comers pointlessly (in hybrid and/or hot war) but they will only succeed in sacrificing their economies and the youth and hope of the entire nation for generations to come for dubious outdated military goals which may entirely fail eventually.

    Like seriously, Boris is not wrong. Vlad went to the well too many times and gathered vast soft power and armies only to squander all in pointless adventures too big for his sad and often deliberately incompetent gangster crew to chew. If I had godlike powers to design a way to permanently (or very long term) cripple or diminish Russia or China as economic forces, I could no better do it than by leaving Putin and Xi on those bloody thrones and changing nothing in history. L. O. S. E. R. S. Putin literally resurrected and expanded NATO single-handedly to the point they should erect a statue of him. And Xi has ruthlessly bankrupted a China poised to reach for the stars. Hate what they and their regimes do to people, but you gotta love em if you are an enemy of evil dictatorships and want them poorly led to reduce their military threat to you and degrade their economic viability.
