The Los Angeles fires won’t affect climate denial. They should.

1. If Sandy Hook didn’t sway anyone to take action to find ways to reduce gun violence then this certainly won’t make a difference for climate change deniers.

3. Nothing tops personal wealth accumulation…and I mean nothing. Millions can die in horrible and cruel ways and magats don’t care…all they care about is money and worshipping their idols. They use religious absurdity to throw up their hands and be useless for any solutions that might save lives…those solutions cost money and they can’t share, they must hoard for themselves. If we the people don’t rise up to stop this authoritarian take over of our gov’t we are doomed to watch millions upon millions of humans to starve and suffer. Magats just don’t care about humanity…all they care about is worshipping their ‘god’ and any idols they can bow and scape to in order to gain a pat on the head. Pathetically weak minded people brainwashed by the bullies.

4. I grew up in LA, and now live in Boulder. Both places had very destructive wildfires in the last 5 years. Everyone I know has not scaled back on eating animals, building back HUGE homes, taking unnecessary flights, buying unnecessary crap, or started working with environmental groups to make bigger changes. Well, one person besides me

   So I agree. It will not change denial or inaction

5. We’ve done nothing to influence the collective brainrot and cultural flailing, combined with vapid media coverage and poor journalism standards. This is what we get when we’ve failed to change the aforementioned.

   It was foreseen and NOTHING was done.

7. Texas got snow this year. That will be blasted on facebook as irrefutable proof that climate change is fake.

8. Based on the logic that started the fire, i think getting anyone to understand how climate change played a role in this will be impossible. It’s hard to make a strong case when one minute climate change is excessive dryness but also heavy rain. The real kicker is that sustained rains that allowed a dry climate to flourish caused the fire.

9. Interesting article. Near the end, it appears that the author attempts to separate MAGA from Republicans, and then calls for “sensible Republicans” to work with people across the political spectrum.

   There are no sensible Republicans. It’s a cult.

10. Literally nothing will change people’s minds at this point. I’d bet my life on that statement.

11. There have been fires for years. That hasn’t swayed many yet. This will be another “random” disaster to the deniers.

12. It’s such a shame that climate change has dramatically increased the Santa Ana winds so much as to cause all of this destruction.

    I’m going to stop eating meat and pay more in taxes to help offset.
