Foreign residents in Denmark are being targeted by scammers impersonating officials from the Danish Immigration Service (Udlændingestyrelsen).

The scammers use sophisticated techniques to deceive their victims, often manipulating caller IDs to make it appear as though the call is coming from the Immigration Service’s official number, as reported by The Local dk.

According to an official statement by the Danish Immigration Service, the scam callers falsely claim that the victim’s residence permit is about to expire. They then demand sensitive information, such as CPR (personal registration) numbers, to “resolve” the issue. The Immigration Service has confirmed that these calls are fraudulent and stressed that they would never request such personal information via phone.
