Canada’s Trudeau urges US consumers to consider the harm of Trump’s tariff threats

  1. It’s a little late now isn’t it. People are already stocking up on foreign products. Most people don’t have that luxury and the poor will suffer the most. Which is by design.

  6. The question isn’t whether the US citizens will feel the pain of a blanket 25% tariff (they will), it’s who Trump will scapegoat and direct the anger at when they do.

    There’s no reaching these people. They’ll either eventually learn that touching a hot stove burns… or they wont have any hands left in a few years. I just hope they don’t burn down everything else with them.

  12. While the ***25% tarriffs on everything*** grab the headlines, the nuanced understanding of Can-Am trade tells a different story:    

    – Canada…is also the top export destination for 36 U.S. states. Nearly $2.7 billion worth of goods and services cross the border each day.   

    – 25% of the fuel the US consumes comes from.Canada.  

    – Canada has stated they’ll respond with tarriffs on US steel, Oranges and other major exports.  

    Net result is US gas prices will spike, consumers on both sides will pay more for lots of things and industry on both sides will suffer.  

    This is 100% a distraction technique that’s been very successful, but poses a real threat to both countries economies.

    Trump won in spite of my vote.

    Nothing I can do about it, other than not buy if possible if and when tariffs happen. I’ve bought some electronics that I had on my “to buy” list ahead of time just in case.

  29. We do and those that actually get our news from non-MAGA friendly news agencies have gotten the word. Unfortunately, there is a huge swath of the U.S. that only listens to Fox News or Newsmax or one of the other Trump propaganda “news” agencies. They have no clue and think sticking it to the foreigners is going to be awesome.
