Because of Ukraine. Taiwan sends 27 tons medical supplies. Also because of Ukraine, Lithuania takes medicine away from dummies who don’t support Ukraine, therefore actually supports Russia.
People trying to make Lithuania look bad are disgusting. A country with a population of 2.8 million people has the balls to say and do what other countries dare not? That is something to be commended. Bangladesh has 164 million people. All the Lithuanians together aren’t even 2% of that. Bangladesh has way more people and resources than Lithuania has and are upset because Lithuania cancels something that belongs to Lithuania? Meanwhile, Lithuania is literally in the midst of an existential crisis. It is no secret that Putin wants Lithuania. Fuck off trying to make Lithuania look bad when it’s trying so hard to do what’s right and to survive.
Saw this in Bangladesh reddit.
Well, every country has its own reason for their actions.
Bangladesh geo position not the best and looks like Russia take it in its influence zone. Currently their increasing influence by building Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant in Bangladesh.
To have a solid stance on moral principals even if it hurts the country itself – it needs high stability in the country and good backing. Bangladesh with gdp lower than 2000, many Rohingya refugees from Myanmar, for sure, don‘t have that stability. As such for autocratic countries such as Russia or China – it is easy to gain influence there.
Progressive politics in action. Happy to see this
Shame on you. Stopping vaccines is the most third-class thing to do. where Bangladesh Abstained.
A bit of a dick move this time from us, sadly.
Lithuania based as always!
Ne.
bitch boy move i musu puses. zmoniu sveikata neturetu buti kazkas, ka paveikia politine santvarka, juolab kai jie susilaike nuo balsavimo.
It seems like this shit is blowing out of proportion on reddit.
Bangladeshi-canadian here.
What Lithuania does with its stockpile of vaccines is its own business.
If they decided change their mind sending their stock to bangladesh that’s their decision as a sovereign nation.
And frankly the stock they were sending wouldn’t have been a big deal, it’s pretty small and over half of bangladesh’s population has already been vaccinated. And bangladesh is already getting larger shipments via the COVAX program and China and India.
Also to add more context, bangladesh has a lot more going on with Russia than they do with Lithuania. Russia helped, along with India, in ensuring Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan, the US and the west did not. While Russia supported the burmese genocide of the rohingya, they are also assisting bangladesh in setting up a nuclear power plant, selling grain and energy supplies.
Is what Russia doing wrong? Yes, there are Bangladeshis in my social circle who are appalled by what the Russians are doing, myself included. But bangladesh also has a policy of not interfering in the affairs of other countries and not getting involved in any wars. This is not their fight and if they joined in they would lose a lot more.
But this is nothing new. Bangladesh gets plenty of heat for her ties with China from India and the west. Yet neither India nor the west will provide and equally good offer in exchange for dumping China. So if you want their vote then give them a good deal and if not, respect their neutrality. Remember that countries have that right and I hope the rest of reddit recognizes this and the reasons bangladesh has taken this decision.
Every country has the right to choose which path they want to follow and both Lithuania and bangladesh have chosen theirs. If Lithuania wants to be petty that is their right.
Nothing to fret about. So calm down.
To give some historical context, in 1971 Bangladesh was part of Pakistan which was causing mass genocide and rape of women, especially of minority. India helped Bangladesh and when they were about to win United States threatened to step in to help Pakistan. Every muslim country turned a blind eye to what Pakistan was doing. USSR declared that they would step in to help India/Bangladesh if US gets involved, which stopped US to intervene. So while a lot of Bangladeshis are appalled by the invasion including the politicians in power, it decided to not vote, especially when its vote does not mattet anyway.
Stupid decision by petty politicians. No wonder Lithuania is the poorest Baltic state.
those vaccines are useless anyway.
Seeing the comments of this same article in r/coronavirus made me lose faith in humanity a bit, ngl..
Bangladesh has vaccinated 75 percent of its population.
I doubt this will have an affect, except resentment. The government in bangladesh is an autocracy. useless decision.

Didn’t know Lithuanians can be so petty.
