My grandparents made it to the US. Uncle was born in Latvia, aunt born in Germany, dad born here. One great uncle was captures by the soviets and died shortly after returning home. Another great uncle never returned from fighting. I have always felt a pull to visit Latvia.

“Fought the Soviets” – do you mean the Latvian War of Independence (Brīvības cīņas, 1918-1920)? Or was he in the Legion?
