  1. “Woodall is seeking damages equivalent to 2.5% of Moana’s gross revenue, or $10bn”

    Holy fuck. 2.5%. Absolutely wild.

  2. Sadly they won’t win. The lion king was stolen from a Japanese cartoon called Kimba the white lion. Disney has some of the best lawyers in the business.

  3. In other news “Disney and Hollywood uses historical, cultural, classical literature, ancient and modern religion and believes to make money.”

  4. >The lawsuit also says: ‘Moana and her crew are sucked into a perilous whirlpool-like oceanic portal, another dramatic and unique device-imagery found in Plaintiff’s materials that could not possibly have been developed by chance or without malicious intentions.’

They aren’t, though, right? I might be forgetting a scene, but this sounds like when they go to the realm of monsters, which was on top of a mountain.

  5. Reminds me of the time Eric Clapton had the idea for Lion King in the 80s and it was stolen from him.

  6. Wait, Disney stole another story. Color me shocked 🤣🤣

  7. even if it’s true and it was plagiarized, she has to go up against not just a high-priced legal team, but a DISNEY high-priced legal team. I guarantee her real strategy is to settle for much lower.

  8. Say your fishing for a settlement without saying you are.

Any case no settlement is coming. Usually the studios fight these things as don’t want to set a precedent.

  9. You can’t steal ideas, they just want f—- off money.

  10. But at least Snow White and the little mermaid were original ideas
