The Indian patka helmet is a bit chunky but was designed with a steel plate around the crown and a softer top. Weight varies slightly dependant on size 1.4 kg.to 1.5 kg.
The patka are said to provide excellent protection against 7.62, mm rounds to the forehead area 5.56 mm rounds to the sides and offer protection against 9 mm weapons systems in the rear and the area of the dome with an additional ballistic insert also available that can be fitted in the interior of the helmet
However due to its weight, it is now being replaced in service with lighter US style helmets without the same level of steel plate protection

I thought at first he caught a round to his helmet and was like lucky bastard, then on that second hit I realised that he wasn’t even wearing one.
I almost got disappointed that he might survive

I thougth he died from that first hit, laying down probably in shock, no longer moving, his buddy already taking his mags. Then all of a suden he moves, oh he’s still alive, pop, oh no he’s not anymore.

I will give the 2nd guy credit…he did have a premonition that #1 was about to die as he started stripping him of his clips, but if someone just took a head shot 2 feet away from me, I might suggest moving a little faster to find new cover.
