LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – A new health initiative has kicked off in the City of Laredo, aimed at promoting fitness and wellness among residents.
On Monday, January 13, Laredo officials highlighted the importance of regular exercise and taking steps to prevent diseases through the use of this campaign, known as the Healthier Texas Challenge.
To mark the state of the campaign locally, participants gathered for a community walk at the Haynes Recreation Center.
According to a Clinical Services Administrator with the Laredo Health Department, Dr. Luis Cerda, “This is not the first year we get into this Healthier Texas Challenge, but this is the first year we receive a lot of support from different organizations. Both hospitals, Webb County and both school districts. It’s very important for us to participate and encourage our community too.”
People who wish to register can do so by visiting the Laredo Health Department’s social media pages.
