  2. What deficit reduction? They’re just going to lower taxes for real estate moguls, billionaires, and a select subset of other industries that have paid above and beyond their protection money.

  7. The average tax payer pays like $59 a year in taxes for Food Stamps and like $3000 a year for corporate welfare.

    How much does one person get on FoodStamps like $50 a week or so

    Plus that money goes back into the economy, It helps farmers, grocery stores, and their employees, truckers, food producers and Billionaires (the Walmart family is the biggest benefactor of the program)

  9. They want to make the poverty cycle harder to break out of. It’s the same reason they oppose education and healthcare for the poor. They want a permanent underclass that gives middle income earners someone to look down on and makes them believe that they are on the same side as the rich.

  10. and what’s this other BS about cutting Social Security, the money is in a fund, it has nothing to do with the deficit, it does not come from taxpayers. Plus if we lifter the contribution cap we could ensure it for generations.

  15. I can’t really see that this program is a budget buster. Likely close to 0.000001% of the budget. Just a mean spirited cut.

  19. I don’t think most people realize how much the food companies depend on these benefits. These programs are the only way lower income families can afford meat. If you take $200-300 a month from folks that can only be spent on food, these folks will have to cut back on what they can spend on food.

  20. So if the government decides to no longer supplement corporations for paying starvation wages, which is what SNAP does or also helping low income disability/retirement people. Then people will starve and no longer be working low wage jobs, for a service economy, just think of the devastation.

  26. I have a disabled daughter…she receives 126.00 per month on SNAP this is in AZ…tell me how the fuk someone can buy food and sustain themselves for a month!!! She works because she wants to and makes minimal funds for the month what about rent and all that comes with it ? If she didn’t have my wife and I she’d have been deceased a long time ago

  28. In like fashion, 2 years ago I saved my friend’s life. I got to her within hours of her impending demise, doctors said she wouldnt have made it through the night.

    Medicaid saved her. The election rolls around and she is liberal but her whole family is MAGA.

    She asks her mom one day, “Mom why are you voting for the person that would take away my healthcare?”

    The mom mumbled something incoherent and changed the subject.

    Votes for Trump over her own daughter’s life.

    My friend was in the ICU for 5 weeks. I bet that hospital bill was several hundred thousand. A first hand experience with life saving care provided by Medicaid, and she voted for cuts to that program for others.

  29. Yknow what would help the deficit the most? Taxing billionaires appropriately. Poor people’s benefits are nickels and dimes. The billionaires have so much money to take for the sake of the deficit.

  30. The SNAP program is one of the most successful and lucrative social programs in United States has enacted. Money disbursed to recipients tend to say in the same county that they are granted, so it ends up being a positive for the local economy.

    Plus, it’s kind of rad that your neighbors aren’t starving.

  43. This is beyond stupid. The morality of any society is reflected in how they treat the least fortunate among them. Beyond that, starving people become dangerous. This will dramatically increase crime as people become desperate.
