  1. Putin is in a very precarious situation, his war isn’t going to have the income flowing in from Europe.
    It’s already taking a toll…

  2. Watching a once great nation fall to the real global hegemon could be the defining moment of the early 21st century. Watching America dismantle ex soviet states from afar is unparalleled

  3. The Baltics are moving over to the EU grid on the 20th. That’s going to be a major blow. With Ukraine no longer piping gas as well, one of their largest markets is basically dried up. The layoffs aren’t going to make many people happy and with Ukraine hitting processing plants things are going to only get worse.

How long until Putin flies out a window.

  4. Don’t worry Putin. Your bestest buddy is being sworn in soon. Trump to the rescue. He’ll lift all the sanctions, and make up some B S. Like it was hurting the dollar.

  5. ‘youre all promoted to the Ost Front! Congratulations ‘

  6. I was thinking about this a lot today: what has Russia gained so far by starting this war? Is anybody there actually better off right now than before the war?

  7. I’m sure internally they are trying to sell the idea of ‘it is not a cut… just relocation to a new opportunistic location’

  8. We’re close. We are sooo fucking close to a second Soviet collapse. But Putin just has to hold on for a week and then it won’t fucking matter.

  9. A little note to the headline: It’s not some Russian energy giant but it’s the Putin’s iconic company that was always advertised on Russian TV as a dream company. You will laugh at pics of its skyscraper did you know it was the tallest building in Europe? Google “Лахта деревня”.

  10. Putin master strategist, he can feed the army with all these people!

  11. Interesting how the narrative shifted from ‘we’ll conquer quickly’ to ‘let’s just hope to salvage some dignity’. The reality is setting in, and the longer this drags on, the more vulnerable the regime becomes. It’s almost poetic justice watching the empire crumble under its own weight.

  12. Could be a blessing in disguise. Refineries aren’t the only legitimate target. Taking out the administrative offices would be just as valid, albeit not a move that would sit well with the rest of the world.

I can’t see Ukraine doing it, but why take chances? If I were involved in the petroleum industry in Russia, I’d be looking for another job.
