The Redding Police Department (RPD) arrested a man who they say entered a Redding business, created a disturbance, vandalized property inside the business and then fled the scene before being caught on Monday night.
Around 3:23 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a disturbance at Jacque’s Design Studio on Pine Street in Downtown Redding. A victim told police that a man followed an unidentified woman into the business and accused her of stealing, creating a disturbance. He then vandalized property inside the business and fled the scene.
The suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Tyree McPherson of Georgia, was located by police near the intersection of Market Street and Eureka Way. RPD said that McPherson attempted to resist arrest but was eventually taken into custody.
McPherson was positively identified by the victim as the suspect. RPD said that they located drug paraphernalia on the him during his arrest.
The damages to the business, including broken and scratched items, totaled an estimated $1,595, according to RPD.
RPD said that McPherson was booked into the Shasta County Jail for charges of felony vandalism, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia. RPD said that they forwarded this case to the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
