  1. Damn it – I loved this guy back in the day. He had a lot of issues after his initial fame but seemed to be doing pretty well recently.

Edit to add that If you didn’t know about his troubles, I posted this really nice article a few years back

  2. Sad. He was great once upon a time.

I saw him years ago in Windsor and it was obvious he was having a tough time.

  3. Just saw him performing in Halifax in November. So sad

  4. Bit of a Mandela effect as thought we lost him a few years ago. Still sad as a great performer, sorry he has gone and 65 seems young these days

  5. I knew the face as soon as i saw the name.

Used to watch Whos line? On Dave maybe 10 years ago and he was a great part of the team.

  6. 60s seems so young. Will always have fond memories of Whose Line. Thanks for that, Tony.

  7. His documentary about the personal battles he faced with addiction and bipolar was a great help to me when a loved one was/is going through similar

    Sad day

  8. Aw that’s sad – he had some great scenes with Paul Merton on the UK Whose Line Is It

  9. Going to watch some old Whose Line featuring him tonight. He did my favorite bit of the whole series when he was in the painting with Caroline Quentin.

  10. Genuinely saddened to hear of his death. He was a hugely talented comic and a fine actor who has been going through a tough time for years.
Was watching some ormthe early episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway? And it was nice to be reminded of what a funny guy he could be, it felt like everyone else were guests on his show.

  11. I’m so sorry to hear this. I remember him well back in the 1980s. I was only thinking a while back what had happened to him. RIP Tony and thank you for the laughs.

  12. I just saw a post about him on Twitter a few days ago. He always seemed such a lovely man despite all the problems he had. The documentary was very moving. Very talented man.

  13. I LOVED him on Whose Line is it Anyway. So much so that I wrote to channel 4 and he sent me some signed photos. He had a difficult life bless him. Rest in peace lovely Tony.

  14. He was amazing in Whose Line…. A very witty and charismatic guy taken too soon 😔

  15. No! That’s so sad. I used to love him on Whose Line… So naturally funny.

  16. There seem to be so many of his contemporaries who had such love for him and his partner stuck by him through everything for nearly 40 years which is testament to him being a good person. Such a sharp wit but there was a sadness to it all in the end. It was wonderful to watch the documentary a few years ago, he had some of that sparkle back in his eyes and seemed content and settled. RIP Tony

  17. That news makes me very sad. He seemed by all accounts to be a good, kind and very funny man dealt a hideous blow early in his life by an abusive priest. I sincerely hope he found peace and contentment in his later years, he deserved it.
