  1. Wow, a Cabinet Minister actually resigning when they’ve done wrong. The adults must be in charge now.

  2. Kind of shocked that this didn’t happen sooner. She’s the anti-corruption minister, who is named in corruption charges connected to an ex-Prime Minister of a deeply corrupted country. Her party’s _campaign material_ is literally found in her aunt’s palace, and she lied about her visit to Russia to see her aunt in 2013.

  3. The writings been the wall for this to happen since the first day of this story broke.

Stupid to have wasted so much time defending the indefensible.

Just feeds into the narrative that labour are just as corrupt as the tories.

  4. After Keir said he had full confidence in her it was obvious it was over.

  5. The media will suck what blood they still can from this mini-scandal then toss it aside as soon as they find another one.

  6. Child of a leader involved in corruption? Sounds like Hunter Biden lol. She also no doubt has at best an apathetic opinion of the British nation and public, time for her to go back.

  7. Ridiculous that the niece of a corrupt regime leader linked to looted properties in London, transferred through shell companies listed in the Panama Papers was made Minister for Corruption. Unless the job is to be as good as possible at corruption.

Incredible that the government thought that appointing her was a reasonable thing to do, incredible they thought it would get past the press as a major story, and incredible that they were correct. It took the fall of the regime and new government asking for the money back before it became untenable. This should never have happened even before the fall of her aunt’s regime. She should never have become an MP either.

Imagine the level of furore there would have been if the nephew of Pinochet was a minister in a Tory government or the niece of Chavez a minister in a Labour government.

Why did the press not immediately make it a huge story to explain her relationship with the regime? The only way this should have been acceptable is if she repudiated it and was living here as someone seeking asylum from their family.

  8. Reeves should be up soon then based on the timeframe between Starmer having confidence in Siddiq and sacking her

  9. Shouldn’t she resign as an MP too, or are we happy to let corruption go on the back benches.

  10. Wild that Labour had their anti-corruption minister be the niece of the leader of one of the most corrupt countries on Earth.

  11. Now get rid of Rachel from Accounts.

She’s buggered the pound and gone cap in hand to China.

    Useless.

  12. You have less than 4 years and the clocks ticking. Red or blue load of crap. I shall protest by voting reform and many like me will.

Don’t get your finger our Lab/Con and you will have a reform government!

  13. Labour hammered the Tories about integrity over and over again. Another own goal by Starmer. I’ve voted for all parties and just want a good government Starmer continues to make mistakes over and over

  14. Honestly, is it any wonder that we have apparently been incapable, for many years, of stopping the UK property market from being an international money laundering service for the all the world’s kleptocrats and gangsters, when our own politicians and their family loot appear to have been some of the key beneficiaries?

  15. That she was made an MP at all is a farce. I have nothing against her personally but Labour is too unserious about this sort of stuff and it completely ruins their credibility when it inevitably blows up.

  16. Not a good week for the government.

I really really hope this isn’t a preamble into the kind of continual circus the Tories were.

  17. Are we allowed to say anything or will we be arrested? Just checking in advance…🤣

  18. I was thinking she might resign a little later, bringing her Prime Minister along with her. 😂

  19. God, is this going to carry over as well? Unstable politics, Ministers not even managing a year?

  20. And Britain bids farewell to the aunty corruption minister.

  21. The free wheelin gifting of and living in £££ properties shows how out of touch our leadership is.

  22. Christ Almighty, Starmer really is speed-running this thing isn’t he.

(And I say that as a Labour supporter.)

  23. I’m not sure why it’s only focusing on her Auntie, her whole family were involved in the regime.

    – Her Uncle (Dad’s Side) Major General Bangladeshi army and Defence & security to Sheikh Hasina (Her Aunt on her mums side)
This man has many alleged controversies surrounding him, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and financial scandals.

    – Her mum is a Bangladesh Awami League politician.

-Her brother is a member of Bangladesh Awami League.

It just so happens that there’s some alleged controversies surrounding the support she’s had in the UK from Awami League members. Notably, assistance in gaining support for her Hampsted and Kilburn campaign and even her 2024 election campaign. Also residing in properties with links to the Awami League.

Call me cynical, but why are we allowing someone with extremely close ties to a foreign government into our own government, and what ulterior motive does the Awami League have in helping said person into a government position in the UK.

Tulip Siddiq has also said her Aunt is a strong female role model for her daughter. The same Aunt that was the leader of a regime accused of human rights violations. I’m not sure that’s a sentence I’d use.

  24. How the fuck did Starmer make someone as corrupt as her anti corruption minister?

Was it a joke? Did he do any due diligence?

  25. She should have just fronted it out.

    No one who mattered cared

  26. Huge surprise, a corrupt Bangladeshi politician, who could possibly have anticipated this

  27. Amusing that the report found she herself hasn’t done anything wrong but people here are acting like she got caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Ironic that Badenoch is mouthing off about it considering that her main leadership contest rivel was found trying to cost the country £100million+ as a favor for a Tory doner and another was found to break the ministerial code for bullying. I’m not saying the government doesn’t have scandals but there not as spicy as 90% of the Tories scandals.

  28. As soon as anybody says “I have full confidence in X, Y, Z” it’s code for I have absolutely no confidence in them and they’re massively screwing up. ETA on Rachel Reeves to go next who also commands the same “full confidence”. It’s a rather odd turn of phrase when you think about it.

  29. Labour’s true colours coming out I see… I guess it’s a lost hope any repercussions for the theft through Covid contracts will ever get punished.

Can they really point the finger at reform or the Tories at this point?

  30. She still isn’t guilty of any wrongdoing, is she? The media and crowds are considering this as evidence of corruption when, compared to other countries (USA) and previous governments (PPE and lockdown scandals) this is actually a sign of integrity.
