Ann Lipton, Tulane University professor of business law and entrepreneurship, joins Market Domination to discuss US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chair Gary Gensler’s tenure.
Lipton highlights Gensler’s “ambitious” changes being struck down, particularly in the Fifth Circuit. She also explains how his climate change rules faced challenges and that the incoming Trump administration will no longer defend them.
“A lot of his efforts, unfortunately, are going to be undone, I think, in the next few years,” Lipton shares.
She also discusses the crypto industry and its regulations, especially under the upcoming Trump administration.
“What the crypto industry is asking for, and they’re very likely to get, are a different set of disclosure requirements that are more tailored to the nature of crypto, how it operates, and the kinds of operations it is,” she says.
