President-elect Donald Trump announced plans to establish a new department called the External Revenue Service to collect tariffs and revenue from foreign sources, effective on his inauguration day. He criticized existing trade agreements for benefiting the global economy at the expense of the American economy and pledged to charge foreign entities for trade with the U.S. Trump intends to impose significant tariffs on major trading partners, including a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, and a 60% tariff on Chinese goods. The Trump transition team has not provided details on how the new agency will operate.

2. He doesn’t understand how anything works and they still put him in the big chair.

   TV does rot your brains.  Trump is proof.  He’s a zero sum brain who cannot comprehend even the most basic complexities with more than two choices.

   Literacy and media literacy is in the gutter.  And their champion is a felon who subverted the election.

3. Wow, that’s impressively dumb. He enacted Tarriffs in the past and did not require such an agency to collect those revenues.

   I am sure that external revenue service will not have auditions and will be fully separate from the Government, so no one knows what comes in and goes out.

   Also it changes nothing about who’s going to end up paying the increased prices from “tariffs”

   the only possibility i can think of is that Trump thinks it’s going to give him personal discretion on where the collected revenue goes.

10. We already have an agency that does this, it’s called CBP which absorbed the former US Customs Service.

Sure, bro, start throwing invoices at foreign governments because you don’t understand that import tariffs are paid by the importer, by us. The more time he wastes on foreign slapfights, the less time he can devote to destroying government services and jailing journalists.
