Police are investigating the incident at Iceland in Eastleigh.
It was reported that a man left the store without paying for washing tablets, and he was stopped by two staff members outside.
They proceeded to take the stolen items from him, and he spat at one staff member.

The man then left the scene.
As part of their investigation, officers would like to speak with a man, pictured, in connection with the incident on January 4, at around 3.45pm.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “If you witnessed the incident or have any information about this man, please contact us online or on 101 quoting 44250005045.”
