  1. I suggested a formidable solution to r/France some years ago about this problem but I unfortunately got banned)

  2. If only the state had employees that were allowed to use violence when people broke the law.

  3. >leftist theatre

    >piece was called “Reinventing the welcome for refugees in France”

    >building is owned by Paris’s “socialist-led council”

    >they’re all claiming to be underage

    >the protestors (who led them to the theatre) say age-testing them is “racist and expeditive”

    I fucking can’t, lmao.

  4. “The Gaîté Lyrique refuses to trak these people out, considering it “unthinkable” to “reject them to the street (…) in the middle of winter,” underlines the establishment. While deploring “the suffered and sudden nature of this occupation” – which the prefecture describes as “illicit” – the concert hall recalls “the legitimacy of the collective’s claim to obtain a roof” for those concerned. And this, despite the risk of “filing bankruptcy” incurred by the cultural institution. Contacted, the management confirms that this situation has “very important” economic consequences for Gaîté and its programming partners, with “heavy operating losses and the weakening of the economic model – which is based on nearly 70% of own revenues and 30% of subsidies from the City”. At the beginning of December, David Robert, spokesman for the institution, estimated the cost of canceling private and public events at “several hundred thousand euros of direct losses”.”

    LMAO

  5. A theatre doing “theatre”. I don’t see any problem here.

  6. Take the opportunity to give these people some culture.

Lohengrin on repeat untill they know it by heart after this the rest of Wagners operas, including correct wagnerian etiquette.

  7. Let it go bankrupt. Then round them up and deport them. Double win.

  8. Oh well, that’s 250 that aren’t planning on boarding a dingy to the UK at least.

  9. I am going to be downvoted but there are negative temperatures in Paris right now so i understand they don’t want to leave. The problem is Macron claimed that no one will be on the street by the end of 2018 and here we are. The results we see in most european countries are linked to short term politics where they don’t put enough money or conduct good politics both to welcome with dignity people who need asylum as well as legal immigrantion, and also to control illegal immigration. Now that those people are here, i’d be ashamed and horrified if they’d die in the street, that’s just inhumane

  10. They realised there was more of them than the locals, so they took the place. we have been warned.

  11. >Something to say Pierre???

No, the theatre litteraly asked for it, and now cry that the government isn’t doing anything. What can I say to this ?

  12. It says:

Although this occupation is forced, it is unthinkable for the Gaîté Lyrique to throw these people out onto the street in the middle of winter

Lol, so I can just go inside any building and start living there? I wonder how the people who pay rent in that city feel.

  13. France has theatres? Do they all just have their own run of Les Misérables on the go?

  14. Barricade the doors. Cut of water , light, and heating.

  15. Let them stay. They’ll have to leave to get food eventually. If the theater wants to show how wonderful a sudden influx of refugees is, they can see how wonderful it really is.

  16. Just so you guys know, It’s -2 Degrees right now in Paris, and very often, the shelters in France are full in these condition. Priority is given to women, families, and actual children.

I know this because I almost ended up in one, you guys really wouldn’t want to be in that situation…. It’s horrible.

  17. There is no place better to receive such vibrant cultural enrichment than a theatre.

  18. It’s Paris, most of us don’t care anymore what happens in Paris. I pity them. Let them rot for all I care. We got other real problems to solve here.

  19. Not sure what to think about that. If you leave everything behind you must be pretty desperate, so I understand why they come here.

But those who welcome them should take them home, not let them in a theatre. If you have real convictions that what they should do.

  20. Isn’t this basically what Mutti Merkel did with the whole of Europe?

  21. The absolute state of western Europe in the 21st century jfc

  22. I don’t listen to French politics anymore because I’m tired of sighing again and again at things like this

  23. Putting four people into a house, that’s 60 houses. These numbers of people meant nothing to my dumb brain until I started thinking of them as houses.

  24. Can’t they work as extras and stage hands for Harry Potter and the cursed child production?

  25. Just wait until you hear the background. Poetic justice
