Here in Canada our PM announced his resignation due to his unpopularity. We think, wow, what a mess. And then we look south and can’t believe our eyes…

There is a difference. The south korean guy was not popular when he initiated his coup, and the legislature was mostly held by the Opposition. Also, his coup was much more upfront. Theres a level of plausible deniability on Trumps end.
South Koreans are probably better educated than the maga folk.
