Pilsener Urquell is objectively the best of the lagers so I’d just take 3 of them (maybe the occasional Paulaner), but if I’m looking for ale I might go for a mix of old golden and speckled hen and maybe a bit of doom bar or hobgoblin.

  1. Said it yourself – Pilsner Urquell x3.

Or, if I was having a takeaway curry, Cobra x3.

  2. Krombacher is a very tasty lager. I only recently discovered the stuff at a Indian restaurant, of all places! Sadly Lincoln Tesco’s rarely have these bottles on the shelf :[
3 for 6 krombachers all day long

  3. Don’t mind me, I’m just sitting here in Scotland mourning the loss of multi buy offers on alcohol…

  4. Budvar is the best of the lot for me but its under 2 quid a bottle at lidl. For the 3 for 6 deal tend to take 3 of the big Staropramen bottles, dont think I’ve seen Pilsner Urquell in the small Tescos around me

  5. Depends on the mood but I quite like cobra or corona if having a curry, I don’t find them as gassy!

  6. Budvar, Paulaner then the last one would be very close between Menabrea and Staropramen. Probably Staropramen though.

  7. Cherry le chouffe.
    Titanic cherry porter.
    Then not sure. Maybe duvel

  8. 2 Old Crafty Hens, 1 St Austell Tribute and 1 Timothy Taylor’s Landlord.

  9. Cherry Porter, King Goblin Ruby Beer, Greene King IPA and a Shipyard IPA. No lager allowed.
If there is a St. Peter’s Plum Porter, I’m getting 4 of those or 4 Guinness West Indies Porter.

  10. I can’t be boring and have 3 of the same. So I’d say Budweis, Asahi, Sale di Mare

  11. A Henry Weston cloudy, a Thatchers mature, and two Sandford Orchard Devon Mists, please.

  12. You are missing a 3rd pic with the craft beers (or “craft”) in what I can see in pic 2

  13. 4 x Duvel Triple Hop and that would me sleeping like a baby.

  14. Warsteiner every day of the week. Any time of the week/day come to think of it.

    S tier drink that.

  15. I guess I’m not in tune with lagers, because I don’t really like much any of these. 10 years ago I’d have said Tyskie, but they long ago changed the recipe.

If I had to, I’d go Moretti or Stella, both are nice enough when chilled enough.

For ales I’d go for Abbott or Bishops Finger.

  16. Usually, a Stella unfiltered, an Asahi and a bottle of desperados for dessert.

  17. Literally anything that’s not brewed in the UK and you’re good to go!! (Check the label)

    Edit* unless it’s English ale/craft

  18. A decent supermarket selection in fairness. Avoid the UK brewed imitations on there and you’ll be ok.

Krombacher the pick of the bunch.

  19. McEwans Champion

    King Goblin

    Old Peculiar

    Old Crafty

Gimme somats strong and with a bit of flavour, I’m a slow drinker tbf

  20. Thought it was looking pretty slim pickings until I saw the second photo. I’d go La Chouffe, Duvel, St Bernardus, Delerium.

I’d be jizzing me kecks if I thought I could get those four for seven quid though.

  21. Hmm.

    Abbot Reserve

    McEwan’s Champion

Adnams’ Broadside if they have it. Fuller’s ESB if not.

  22. Warsteiner x 3. I may be boring, but I’m drinking well.

  23. My Go-To choices would be:

    * Delirium (grey bottle with the pink elepant), 1-2 bottles
    * Bernarbus is always good
    * Birra Morretti is a nice standby.

  24. Nobody going for the Old Peculiar then? More for me I guess.

  25. From this selection: An Urquel, a Budvar and a Paulaner to wrap up

  26. London Pride, Doombar, and I see a Badgers there but not a Cranborne Poacher

  27. I’d go for an Erdinger, Cherry Chouffe, Delerium and Master Stoat out of that selection.

What I’d actually go for though are the craft beer cans, as they are usually decent and higher % quite often too.

  28. Estrella Galicia is new in Tesco and a proper Spanish beer made in Spain that isn’t owned by multi corporations… Easy choice imo

  29. Picked up 4 for 3 last night: Tiny Rebel Ice Cold, Northern Monk Tankpetrol, Brewdog Mr President and Buxton Kingslayer. Mostly as earlier yesterday I realised that most of my current beer stash is barrel aged imperial stouts and barley wines.

I would also take Delerium Tremens, St Bernardus 12, Chimay White and Duvel Triple Hop if I was in a Belgian mood.

Or Krombacher, Warsteiner, Paulaner and Urquell if I was in a lager mood.

  30. That Polish brewed Tyskie in the bottles is delightful.

  31. Sainsburys near me has Old Peculier. “Lunatic Broth” according to their marketing, a term I *adore*.

It’s strong, dark, and tastes great. Lovely stuff.

  32. Can we take a moment to pay our respects for the amount of times I’ve stood deciding which 3 or 4 beers to have, only to ring them through at the checkout and find out that all but one of them were in the offer, so I end up paying full price for the lot?

  33. Doombar, Spitfire and Black Sheep.

They’re all together and I don’t want to waste any more energy than is strictly necessary.

  34. This MFer literally just casually stated that a particular beer is objectively the best. Without even attempting to be interesting by explaining their subjective (say it with me now) opinion.

  35. In winter time it’s the dark beers for me. McEwens Champion, Broadside, Hobgoblin Black Wych, and a Crafty Hen would be my go to four.

  36. I really envy you back in the UK, I live abroad now and we can’t get any British beer. Foreign ales are very different, as no doubt you know, and this is one of the few things I really miss from Britain, and especially at this price.

  37. This is basically Lager vs Ale.

For me I go for the £7 as I like the bottles of Guinness
