  1. Iran “never” plotted to assassinate Donald Trump during last year’s U.S. election campaign, President Masoud Pezeshkian told NBC News’ Lester Holt in an exclusive interview in Tehran.

Asked about the reported plot against Trump outlined by U.S. authorities, Pezeshkian said: “This is another one of those schemes that Israel and other countries are designing to promote Iranophobia. … Iran has never attempted to nor does it plan to assassinate anyone. At least as far as I know.”

In November, the [Justice Department charged an Iranian man in an alleged murder-for-hire effort](https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/justice-department-brings-charges-thwarted-iranian-plot-assassinate-tr-rcna179342) to kill Trump when he was the Republican Party presidential candidate. Two others were charged for allegedly planning to kill an Iranian American journalist and activist who has criticized the Iranian government over its treatment of women.

  2. And how else would anyone expect him to answer that question? Why yes we did, but we didn’t mean it?

  3. We are very sorry that fires consumed California.. wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more.

  4. if iran were planning to do they would have done it failed or not, nothing happened from these so that info was false.

also if they do that why the hell would they kill israel PM in the first place?

  5. If Iran actually attempted to assassinate a presidential candidate, that would be an act of war as far as I can see. The government made that reason up. We are acting like it didn’t happen now. It was definitely an inside job or something. A congressman tried to say the drones were from Iran too.

  6. I’m more inclined to believe that the assassination attempt was orchestrated by the so called deep state, necons and neolibs, that have had a stranglehold on the US’s foreign policy for decades.
