How much do drivers pay to repair speed bump damage each year? Fucking idiotic invention.
Headline: roads require maintenance
Blame cyclists in 3, 2, 1…
The issue isn’t the repairing of the road.
It’s the poor patchwork repairing of the road which leads to inevitable failure and a requirement for re-repair.
Do it properly the first time.
But that doesn’t happen because it’s more profitable to have to keep repairing things.n
Tax 3 Tonne SUVs more
How do you identify “pothole” damage against general wear and tear of a car?
Where did all that money go? Because, judging by the state of the roads at the moment, it certainly wasn’t into fixing the roads…
Imagine if we spent less and actually fixed the potholes properly. No profit for contractors (or KwikFit) doing that though
I read that as 579k and thought that’s much less than I thought.
How does it cost so much when so few are actually fixed?
Correction: it cost UK taxpayers 579m, whether they own a car or not.
Any cuts to infrastructure or social spending always cost more in the long run than they save. That’s why our debt is growing every year with no end in sight
Europe has such lovely roads.
Yep £4500 of that was me
We’ve had a small sink hole on our road for probably 4 years. It’s been quite an eye opener how shit things have become in this country by watching the progress of getting it repaired.
We had years of people circling it with spray paint. The spray paint would wear off and someone would do it again.
Then one day I saw a flatbed lorry arrive with 1 small bag of ready mixed tarmac strapped to the back of it. This nowhere near filled the hole so I watched him scrape mud and leaves from the side of the road and put it into the hole as well.
It didn’t work and the hole reappeared.
Job done.
Oh that’s why I’m broke
I’d say a good £2nillvwould just be in Bridlington.
For most of last year the entrance to dialysis here was more like the surface of the moon
There’s a pot hole near me and they fill it every month. It’s incredible. I can’t understand how it doesn’t last that long.
I think they should let communities fill them if they choose. A badly done job is better than no job with potholes
If that was a private company to private company contract it would be far less.
Our local thai temple in the UK gave up and paid around £30K (from merit making donations) to fix the bomb site leading up to their building themselves. Odd sight of monks in their orange robes wearing rigger boots and a few contractors resurfacing the road
One for those that genuinely know what they’re on about.
Is the state of the roads simply down to the shit patchwork jobs or is the current tarmac method which is now well over 100 years old simply not up to the sheer volume of traffic we have now?
It’s a scam to constantly get more money.
And the heavy electric land boats don’t even contribute a fair share of tax to maintain the roads they use.
