  1. And?

Average day in a Welsh comprehensive school that is…

  2. Insane that these seems so bad now. In the 70s teachers would always go to the pub at lunch on Fridays…

  3. I’m not saying I condone it, I’m just saying I ***understand*** it…

  4. I fucking get it. I’m not a teacher but I would absolutely be drinking more if I was

  5. I could name and shame several piss head teachers but I totally understand why so many of them are alcoholic.

Its a shit job thanks in part, to most teachers working loads of hours unpaid.

Think they actually get their six week holidays?!

    Ahahahahahahahahahah.

So many arrive at 8 and leave at 6pm the paid hours are 9 to 3.

Muppets are the architects of their own misery.

  6. So this is shocking, but MP’s getting their drinks subsidised whilst they make decisions for the country is just fine ?

  7. We used to call our art teacher Gin instead of Gwyn, reckon he kept the pub going single handed

  8. Don’t blame that teacher! We all need a break sometimes and the teachers job is soo mentally draining.

  9. I taught for one year. I get it. Not condoning it but I get it.

  10. I wish it didn’t happen but I totally get why it did. The UK authorities do not care about teaching staff one bit.

  11. Have you met the current generation of school children? *shudders*

  12. If you read the article you’ll know that the teacher in question drove back to the school after drinking half the bottle of wine and appears to have been visibly drunk during the subsequent lesson.

Even if you accept this is a symptom of teachers not being given the proper support, which I do, nobody should be drink driving and teachers cannot be drunk at work.

The most I’d say is that a ban seems a bit harsh for a teacher who otherwise seems to have a good record, but what she did is serious.

  13. Lol, i remember when the PE teacher bought the pub next to the school he worked in.. just down the road from this school actually.

  14. One school I worked at in London had an account with a local wine merchant and, every Friday afternoon, half a dozen cases of white and half a dozen cases of red were delivered to the staff room.

  15. I understand Miss Morrison’s lesson was to describe, with a practical demonstration, how alcohol can affect your judgement.

  16. apart from the drunk driving element, i have sympathy for her

kids are a handful these days. and it was only half…

  17. Honestly, I can’t blame them.

And if it was another business, a few drinks over lunch is not uncommon (especially on a Friday/ pay day).
But it’s not good for any person to ‘have’ to drink during a lunch break.
    Especially one dealing with children.

  18. Remembering back to how the kids treated our science teachers…

  19. We all should be allowed to have a one day a year when we could say FK IT! And do whatever makes us happy against all the odds, regulations, social norms etc… one day in a year to feel free! ☝️🤩 And I’ll drink for that! 🍻🍻🍻

  20. Wasn’t this normal behaviour like 20 years ago? lol

Not the carpark, but teachers fucking off to the pub for lunch time and coming back half cut seemed the norm.

  21. I’m a teacher, a lot of us are alcohol dependent. In other news rain makes the grass wet.

  22. Our geography teacher kept a bottle of whiskey in his glass topped desk. We could see it every lesson. It went down through the week

  23. She could have drank the bottle and called in sick with a migraine so credit to her for making the effort and best wishes to her for her recovery. No one is perfect.
